What is the Moments of Truth (MoT)?
Moments of Truth is Toastmasters International’s club quality evaluation framework. It helps clubs assess the member experience across six critical areas and identify where improvements will have the greatest impact on retention, engagement, and club excellence. MoT provides a structured way to understand where gaps exist, what strengths to build on, and how the club experience aligns with Toastmasters standards.
Why is the Moments of Truth (MoT) Important?
Establish a clear picture of the club’s current member experience

Strengthen the club’s ability to achieve Distinguished Club Program goals
MoT is the assessment foundation of the Club Quality Cycle. It is the starting point for planning and execution.
The Six Moments of Truth
1. First Impressions How guests are welcomed and how the club presents itself.
2. Membership Orientation How new members are onboarded, supported, and integrated.
3. Fellowship, Variety & Communication How the club fosters connection, engagement, and communication.
4. Program Planning & Meeting Organization How meetings are structured, planned, and executed.
5. Membership Strength How the club maintains and grows its membership base.
6. Achievement Recognition How accomplishments are celebrated and members are encouraged.
How MoT Connects to Club Success
MoT identifies where improvements are needed. The Club Success Plan defines how those improvements will be executed. The Distinguished Club Program verifies whether the improvements were achieved. Together, they form the Assess → Plan → Execute → Measure cycle that drives continuous club excellence.

Review each of the six areas with your officers and members
Document strengths, gaps, and opportunities
Prioritize actions that align with club goals
Integrate findings into your Club Success Plan
Revisit MoT mid‑year to track progress and adjust strategies

**District MoT Incentive:
Any member who completes a Moments of Truth evaluation on or before September 30 will receive a $20 Toastmasters Gift Certificate, awarded both to the member and to their club. Only one award will be issued per club.
